I try to get away as often as possible so I’m getting quite good at packing at short notice and need to get as much ‘stuff’ in as small a suitcase as possible. I don’t want to take huge suitcases and hand luggage as well, so I’ve been looking at videos on how to bundle wrap clothes. It’s really quite simple, it must be as my first attempt wasn’t too bad.
One You Tube video I found was Pack for 60 days away a 7 minute video (yes he does go on a bit) but you won’t believe how much he manages to pack in a small carry on case weighing in at the end at 21lbs. Mind you he didn’t have many pairs of shoes!!!
For a 2 week holiday I wanted to take
5 dresses, 2 long sleeved tops, 3 pairs of trousers, 2 pairs of shorts, 2 skirts, 5 blouses, 4 tee-shirts, a cardigan, swimwear, a pashmina, underwear and 3 pairs of shoes / flip flops, which all bundle wrapped packed into this …..
All fits really easily in a cabin bag. Excellent.
The other trick to keep size to a minimum is to buy yourself some plastic travel bottles from your local chemist Travel set example. I suffer from dermatitis so I can’t use the hotel freebies and I like to take the brands I know I can use but they don’t come in small sizes, so I transfer things like shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand cream and after sun lotion into these bottles and jars. They come in a handy zipper topped plastic holder so if they leak they won’t ruin your clothes. Another little tip is to cover the open tops with cling film before screwing the top on to stop any leaks.
I’ve also bought myself a small see-through plastic make up bag just for the essentials and a larger one for other toiletries. This made it so much easier to see exactly what you’re after as soon as you pick the bags up.
The other essential was a desk top charging station we found this invaluable (and it’s only the length of a credit card) so we could charge both our phones (android) and iPads at the same time whilst only using one socket.
Happy packing!
