Gary Purnell experience

Gary Purnell experience

So I’ve spent the last few days discovering Birmingham. We got lost in the Bullring shopping malls and I encouraged my daughter to spend, spend, spend. She lives in Perth (Western Australia) and she spent the whole 2 days exclaiming how “cheap” clothes are here. (Any justification to buy 3 pairs of boots … really!! ?)

During our shopping expedition we had to stop off for refreshments, a little fizz to keep us going.

We also sampled the delights at the Mailbox, (Harvey Nicks etc, all a bit OTT and not my taste, but at least I can say I’ve been there) personally I preferred the walk along the canal side. Who would have thought that there was a working canal in the centre of a large city like Birmingham. I didn’t get a picture (couldn’t take the gloves off in time) to capture the maintenance barge breaking the ice on the canal but was captivated by the serenity of that little area. The bargees and the ducks quietly getting on with life.

And the ducks were having fun too.

The final treat was to visit Gary Purnell’s restaurant in Cornwall Street www.purnellsresturant.com It doesn’t look that exciting from the outside but first impressions aren’t always correct ?

Gary’s restaurant

We had the 6 course taster menu and it was sublime

At £177 each it was worth it. The food was amazing and the staff were lovely, really friendly.

It seems that next week I’ll be enjoying a 2 Michelin star restaurant (thanks to my lovely hubby)

Kazaj

Hi I'm Kaz, I am very happy that I no longer need to work and loving my life now I can choose what I want to do and when. Me and my hubby are lucky enough to own a motorhome so we like to travel quite extensively. Our adventure continues.
